Four Refreshing Ways to Start Your Morning

I always joke that I’m an early bird and a night owl… I just like to take naps during the day! But, if I had to choose one time of the day to be most productive, it would definitely be morning. I love to sleep as much as the next person, but once I’m actually out of bed and moving, I like to get a head start on my day. In today’s post, I’ll be sharing four refreshing ways to start your morning! Instead of reaching for your phone (and social media) immediately, try out one of these. ((PS… All of these are especially good with a cup of good coffee in hand.))

1. Start the day with prayer.

On the weekends and slow days, I’m much better about this but I’m trying to get into the habit of praying well even when I’m in a rush! I personally like to write in a prayer journal. In the morning I may read the verse of the day or just write out my thoughts and intentions. For me, starting my day by praying means the rest of my day will go well – even if a million things go wrong, I’ve started my day in the best way possible.

2. Plan your day.

I love using my bullet journal. I constantly have it with me, and I’m always updating it with tasks. When I have time in the morning, I find it so helpful to look through my calendar and weekly view and see what exactly I have to do that day. By starting your day looking through your plans, you’ll know what to expect! If you’re having a super busy day, you’ll know to get some work done during your lunch break. Or, if your day is chill you’ll be able to schedule in work to get ahead… or quality Netflix time.

3. Reach out to someone.

There are so many ways to do this! You could simply text a stressed-out friend and tell her you hope she has a great day. If you love stationary, you could take a few minutes to write a “just thinking of you” card – just don’t forget to mail it or give it to them! Investing your time (even just a few minutes) is so important to friendships. Plus, you never know what your words could mean to someone or how it could change their day!

4. Take ten minutes to organize your room.

Okay, okay… I definitely am not good about this. BUT think about how great it will feel to come home to a clean (or cleaner?) room. Make your bed (even if it’s just by putting your pillows in order or straightening out your blankets) and pick up dirty clothes. Hopefully by doing this every morning for a few days, your room stays clean. This is definitely one I’ll have to try out soon!

So, whether you’re a morning person or a night person, I hope you try out these tips! Do you have any ways you start your morning that I should try? Let me know in the comments!

xoxo, Cecilia

  1. Love these tips! I’m kinda of the same way…I love to sleep, but I absolutely love getting up early and getting my day started. Although I am definitely not a night owl. I’m lucky if I make it past 10. Ha!

  2. Love the 4th tip! I need to really take more time to clean my room in the mornings so I’m not overwhelmed after a long day. Loved this 🙂

    1. Same. I think it would be slightly easier if you straighten certain things up at night so you don’t have major stuff to clean up in the morning,

  3. Love them all. I have put in place a rewards system to help me develop my habits. Right now I am working on improving my night routine so that I can wake up in the morning replenished. This includes taking care of my hygiene, picking out my clothes at night, packing my bag, put my keys in a easy to find place, packing my food, and cleaning my room before I go to bed. Not having a solid night routine wrecks havoc on my morning because I am so unprepared.
