I’m pretty sure October is one of my favorite months every year! It finally feels like fall in Birmingham, but it’s also still warm enough to go on long walks without freezing. Without further ado, here are my October top 10 favorites, from new workouts to Trader Joe’s finds I can’t get enough of.
- If you live in Birmingham, you might have heard of The Wellness Passport. If you haven’t, it’s a fun physical booklet and two-month season every fall where you can try a ton of different workouts in town. I love using it as a chance to switch up my fitness routine, and I always end up falling in love with new studios! This year, my favorite studio has been Supertone. I already know and love Archive by PM Method and Ignite Cycle, so I knew I’d love those, but Supertone has been a pleasant surprise. The strength class is a fabulous workout that leaves me sore, and Whitney is a great instructor.
- Fall is the perfect time to try new products at Trader Joe’s, and the salted maple cold foam has me in a chokehold. I’ve been adding it to my easy iced coffee, but it’s also good with hot coffees (it just melts into them, ha).
- I made this creamy tortellini soup the other night and fell in love. I made a few small replacements (chicken sausage instead of pork and spinach instead of kale), and it made sooo much delicious soup. Bonus: it reheats so well.
- I’ve been on a mission to try as many fun fall coffees as I can in Birmingham, so here are a few of my favorites:
- Grounds: Grounds is one of my favorite coffee shops, and I got to try their fall coffees super early in the season. Their sweet potato miso latte was amazing. Such a fun take on a traditional PSL!
- City Bowls Edgewood: The PSL at City Bowls was one of my favorites. Real pumpkin, graham cracker and roasted marshmallows on top. The perfect chilly weather treat.
- Cala Coffee: the sweet potato cold brew with a marshmallow cold foam might sound odd, but it’s one of my favorites! The sweet potato is perfectly balanced and I could drink the marshmallow cold foam with a spoon and still want more. Pro tip: get the drink to go instead of for here. I feel like they do not give you the same amount when you get it in a cup for here, and since it’s not an espresso drink, you’re missing out on caffeine!
- June Coffee: June is the most recent fall menu drop, and I tried two drinks. The carrot cake latte is good, but it probably wouldn’t be my go-to. I was surprised by how much I liked the hojicha! I’ve never had it before, and it was delicious with a brown sugar and black sesame syrup and cold foam.
- This fall has been amazing for new music that makes me feel like I’m the main character of a rom com. Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving is fabulous—not every song is a favorite for me, but the ones I love (Something Inbetween, Man I Need, Baby Steps + Nice to Each Other) have been on repeat. And Maisie Peters surprise dropped two singles for MP3 that I’ve been obsessed with.
- If you know me at all, you probably know I love a podcast. I just started listening to “U Up?” with Jared Freid and Jordana Abraham after I saw Jared on Golden Bachelor, and it makes me laugh out loud! It’s a dating advice podcast but it is so funny and definitely feels more like comedy than relationship advice.
- My favorite pants are always the Colette pants by Anthropologie, and I just rented this pair from Nuuly. Can’t wait to wear them this month.
- I continue to love Nuuly, especially for trips and weddings. I don’t use it every month, but I got a Nuuly this month to get a dress for a wedding and to have a few fun options for NYC. I think it’s the perfect option to scratch the itch of wanting new clothing without spending a ton of money or taking up space in your closet for something you’ll just wear once or twice. Use my link to get $30 off your first month!
- Currently reading A Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry, and I love it so far. It reminds me a bit of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which I also really enjoyed, so I’m curious if other people thought that!
- Can’t believe October is almost over! Heading to NYC for my annual fall trip—it’s my third year visiting the city in October, and it’s so fun to explore new spots. It makes me feel so nostalgic because now, every time I go, I feel like I’m transported in time to me from the past.
Hope you enjoyed my October top 10 favorites!
