Top 5 Birmingham Coffee Shops

Today we’re talking about one of my favorite things: coffee. Whenever I’m feeling unproductive or want to spend time with friends, I always turn to coffee shops! Starbucks is always a no-shame go-to for me, but exploring new coffee shops is so fun. Today we’ll chat about my top five Birmingham coffee shops – if you live in Birmingham or plan to make a trip, put one of these on your list!

Top Five Birmingham Coffee Shops

1. Red Cat

Red Cat has two locations, both in downtown Birmingham, so I love to make a day out of grabbing coffee here! Iced coffee is my favorite – hello, iced coffee chats. My absolute FAVORITE iced coffee ever is at Red Cat – an iced coconut and vanilla latte.

Red Cat at Pepper Place – so cute!

Both locations are sweet and spacious, but the Pepper Place location is obviously perfect on a Saturday morning after strolling Pepper Place Market. The shop gets crazy crowded, but I’ve always been able to snag a seat!

If you aren’t a fan of coconut, you can’t go wrong with a classic iced vanilla latte. Besides, look at how photogenic it is.

2. Church Street Coffee and Books

I went to Church Street for the first time this weekend, and I’m already OBSESSED. The cutest little space full of windows, bright light, and books. It’s small, so I can imagine it gets crowded quickly, but on Saturday around 10, there were plenty of seats. I’m basic, and my go-to order when I’m somewhere new is an iced latte – I added honey to sweeten, but next time I’m going to switch up my order and add a cookie! My friend LB grabbed a double chocolate chip cookie and it looked SO good.

3. O’Henry’s Coffee

Tragically, I don’t have any images from O’Henry’s… which is truly a shocker if you know me. I love O’Henry’s outside patio area for getting blog work done or chatting with friends. I’m not a huge fan of sweet drinks, so I wasn’t a huge fan of the iced vanilla coffee I grabbed, but I’m excited to grab a hot latte when it gets cooler! Like Church Street, O’Henry’s has an upstairs (that you can reserve) which means there should always be a few seating options!

4. Revelator

If I’m being totally honest (which of course I am), if I make the drive downtown, I’m probably going to hit up Red Cat… it’s my #1 for a reason, after all. But – I love the aesthetics of Revelator. Bright whites, succulents, totally airy. Next time I go I’ll make sure to grab an iced coffee that’s at least sweetened or flavored, because the plain iced coffee with milk was too bitter for me!

how cute are these lil blue chairs?!

5. Hoover Starbucks

Okay, okay… this is kind of cheating because it’s a Starbucks. BUT it is my go-to coffee shop, always. It’s a few minutes away from my house, across the street from the super Target – seriously a prime location. There’s plenty of seating options, perfect if you want to meet friends or settle down for a productive afternoon. I make a point of visiting it when I come home because it is my absolute favorite Starbucks.

I hope you enjoyed reading my top five favorite Birmingham coffee shops – even if you aren’t necessarily close! What’s your go-to coffee shop order?! I’m a bit of a stickler for my iced vanilla lattes, but I’d love to know if you have an order I should try!

  1. Okay, but Red Cat looks ADORABLE! That yellow bike? Yes please! Oddly enough back at home there’s a super popular coffee place called Orange Cat that totally has a similar vibe. 🙂
