threepeat: last-minute holiday outfit ideas

happy Tuesday! it’s hard to believe that Christmas is less than a week away… this Sunday my family (finally) decorated the Christmas tree, and with warm mugs of delicious cocoa in our hands and Christmas songs playing in the background, it really felt like Christmas time! Normally on Christmas day I just wear comfy clothes because I know the day will be spent lounging around, eating good food with family, and opening Christmas presents, but on Christmas Eve I like to dress up more for Church! I decided today I would share a few outfit ideas (for Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and any other holiday parties you have coming up!) that all have pieces you already have in your closet! Each outfit starts with a little black dress… every girl’s staple, right?! (Well, to be honest, my staple is probably comfy sweaters and jeans… but an LBD is definitely up there!)

the casual: little black dress + denim chambray + ankle boots

This outfit is the perfect combination of casual items + nicer items. I wear my denim chambray all the time because it adds a great layered look, it makes the outfit more comfortable but it also adds a different element of style! I was definitely chilly while wearing this look, so an easy way to make it warmer would be to add tights (plain, colorful, or patterned would all create such different looks)

the cozy: little black dress + comfy sweater + scarf

This outfit is probably what I’m going to end up wearing on Christmas Eve! It is so cozy because of the sweater and scarf but the colors make it perfect for the holidays. Adding a sweater over a dress gives the effect of wearing a skirt which is a simple way to get more wear out of your favorite dresses. The scarf is so cozy and definitely helps warm up the outfit while also adding more pattern and texture. Of course, one of the best parts of this outfit is how easy it is to recreate because you probably have a sweater and scarf in your closet already! (And if you don’t, you should hit up those after-Christmas sales because they. are. the. best.)

the cool: little black dress + green jacket + lace tights

This outfit is the dressiest & most unique of them all because of the simple addition of the lace tights. #funfact: I actually bought these tights yeeaarrrss ago but I don’t think I ever wore them until now… But now that I’ve rediscovered them, I’m in love! They add a fun look and despite their reputation, they really weren’t that annoying. Plus, even though they were lace, they actually warmed me up which is always a great bonus in my book. I think this outfit would be great for NYE, especially if you’re like me and you’re just not a huge fan of sparkles. (I love them on other people, just not on me!) Just replacing the ankle boots with pumps would immediately change the look and make it perfect for any party.

I hope you all enjoyed this post… Hopefully it gave you some ideas for what to wear because I know sometimes that is the last thing on our minds! And of course, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends. (p.s. if you’re looking for super last minute gifts that you may have to give after Christmas – no judgment here because I’ve been there – I shared a few mini gift guides in my last blog post!)
