Five Reasons I’m Smiling

Hey everyone! It has been a hot minute since I’ve written a blog post. Two weeks ago was my spring break (recap coming soon!) and since then, I’ve been transferring my website from Squarespace to WordPress. It’s been tricky, but with the help of my dad I’ve been getting the hang of it. For today’s post I thought I would do something a little bit different and share five things that have been making me smile recently. I am all about looking at the sunny side of life, and what better way to do that than to take a moment and realize how lucky I am?!

  1. An amazing spring break with even better friends. For spring break, some of my best friends and I went to Gulf Shores, Alabama. This trip was honestly one of the most fun of my life, and I cannot wait to share pictures. I’ll be doing a little recap of our favorite places to eat and favorite things to do on the blog! I am so lucky to have this great group of girls and spending the week together made me realize that even more.
  2. A new website design. Like I mentioned, I’ve been switching from Squarespace to WordPress. My dad has been great about helping me with all of the technical issues. (I always joke that my dad is more helpful than any techy store, and whenever my friends have any phone problems, I tell them to talk to him! #techdadproblems) For the last week, I’ve been working on making the blog layout exactly the way I want it. Of course, I’m not nearly as technologically friendly as my dad is, so I’m going to have to keep getting used to using WordPress. I love the new layout, and I hope that it makes Sunny Side Cecilia an easier (and happier!) reading experience.
  3. This weather. The first day of spring brought some amazing weather. My roommate and I have been opening our windows which gives us a great view of campus (also a great way to sing at people walking on the street #sorry?) and lets so much spring air into our room. Even when we’re doing homework we have something to smile about. I’m sharing my spring bucket list on the blog next week and I can guarantee that half of it will be outside activities.
  4. Iced vanilla coffee. This one is a little silly, but I think appreciating the smaller things in life makes us realize how lucky we really are! This year for Lent I’m giving up buying drinks at Starbucks, and I really miss my go-to order. I still have coffee in the morning from our Keurig, because I don’t think I could survive without it! But, I miss the environment of grabbing a drink and doing homework or working on blog posts while sipping on it! I know I definitely need to be more conscientious of how much money I spend at Starbucks, and I think after Lent’s over I’ll limit how much I buy each week.
  5. Countdown to summer. My freshman year is almost over! The next two months are going to fly by, and I’m so excited. Each weekend is going to be filled with something different and fun. Last weekend was my sorority formal and in a few weeks I’m visiting a friend at her school. Even if the time in your life is stressful, having a countdown to something that makes you smile will always brighten your day!

Thanks so much for reading this post! What’s making you smile lately? I’d love to know!

xoxo, Cecilia
