Four Tips for Feeling Put-Together

Happy Thursday! It’s finals week, so I thought today’s post would be perfect. I am all too familiar with having only five minutes to get ready, especially after hitting the Snooze button three times! I have a few tips for feeling put-together that only take five minutes and make a difference. On most days I don’t wear makeup, but I still follow these little tips if I want a pick-me-up. So, whether you woke up with five minutes to spare or you just want to change up your routine, I hope these help!

1.) Bold brows: I’ve already professed my love for this little makeup tip! Bold brows are especially on trend now, but I love how low-maintenance they are to keep. My natural brows are already thick, but some days I like to fill them in with a little powder and gel. This is an easy step that makes a huge difference! Eyebrows frame your face so they’re an easy way to change up your look. Bonus: filling in your eyebrows lightly looks natural, so it’s okay if you don’t wear makeup! (My favorite eyebrow kit: $3, in most drugstores)

2.) Watch + simple jewelry: Another simple addition that (I think) makes a noticeable difference. I don’t remember my watch every day, but on the days that I do I just feel put-together. I’m a huge fan of dainty jewelry – simple studs, a petite necklace. Having go-to pieces takes the guesswork out of getting ready and makes you look like you have your life together. I always see girls with simple jewelry and immediately think they have it all together! In reality, all they had to do was slip on a few bracelets.

3.) A favorite scent. I’m definitely not the first person to talk about having a signature scent. But I think there’s a reason people always say it! I don’t have a signature scent, but something about using a favorite body spray or even a go-to chapstick brightens my day. Throughout the day, every time I catch a whiff of the perfume or lotion, my mood improves! I think this works especially well if you savor your morning routine (not always possible on those five-minutes-to-get-ready days). But, if your morning routine brings you joy, the scent will remind you of that relaxation.

4.) Manicured nails. Okay, this one’s a bit of a cheat. Obviously painting your nails takes more than five minutes, and when I’m running late it’s the last thing I think about. I like to spend about an hour relaxing on a Sunday (if I can!) with a face mask, and that’s the perfect time for a DIY manicure. I paint my nails a beautiful color and watch a new movie or catch up on a show. Then, the rest of the week when I look down, I feel so polished! (Pun definitely intended). Because this is a weekly routine for me, I’m able to repaint my nails before the chipping is too bad.

I hope these tips will help your morning routine! I’ve found that when I start my day with these little tips, the rest of the day I feel like I have everything together… Even if that’s far from the truth.
