A Fresh Take on Florals

While I may technically be on summer break, spring is still in full swing! And of course with spring comes the quintessential (and totally groundbreaking, right?!) floral pattern. There are so many ways to style florals that are unique to the wearer. Pattern mixing is really popular, and it’s fun to pair a go-to striped shirt with a floral skirt. I also love adding denim to my floral look, whether it’s by wearing a denim chambray as a shirt or even as a jacket. Finally, I love wearing a top with fun details that complement the floral pattern!

Both this top and skirt are pieces that I rediscover and fall in love with all over again every time I clean my close. Side note: it feels like I’m shopping every time I do a deep closet clean. I find so many pieces that were hidden! If you’re unsure of florals, I would recommend a skirt like this one with a neutral base. Because this skirt has a black base, it’s foolproof to pair it with a plain black shirt. As a bonus, because it’s darker, it’s so easy to transition into fall and winter!

I grabbed this top at the Target sale section (surprise surprise) last fall, wore it once, then forgot about it. I’m so glad I found it again because it is so cute with this skirt! It’s a basic shirt but the lace detailing amps it up.

Now that we’ve talked about the outfit, let’s chat about life! For the first time in a long time, I’m having a real break for summer. I have a (fun, crazy, totally exhausting) summer job as a day camp counselor. For the last four years, camp started just a few days after school ended. Of course I still had a ton of fun each summer, but this year has been so nice because I have three weeks until camp starts! This last week I’ve relaxed at the pool with friends, been to Starbucks to write blog posts, and even played trivia. I cannot wait to see how the rest of this summer goes!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

xoxo, Cecilia
