Sunny Days #2: Afternoon in Columbus, GA + Auburn Food Favorites

Happy Friday & welcome to Sunny Days #2! This year, I want to share more of my personal life on the blog & create a time capsule I can look back on. I’m in such a busy & exciting time of life, and I love having this space to share these fun moments with. Of course, a lot of the time my life looks like studying, caffeinating, and feeling tired. BUT there are so many fun exciting little moments that I want to focus on! Here are a few of the highlights from my week… of course, most of them involve food.

Saturday: an afternoon in Columbus, GA

I’ve talked about Columbus on the blog before, and I’ve been itching to go back since first visiting! My best friends Nikki, Addie, and I took advantage of the long weekend & made the short drive to Columbus to spend the rainy afternoon exploring.

We grabbed lunch at Nonic because I was craving their yakisoba… but they were only serving brunch for the weekend until 2 PM! I got an egg scramble but for real… just go for dinner because the yakisoba is WORTH IT.

Of course, I had to snap some quick mural photos even though it was raining – ya gotta do it for the gram. There are 4 cutie murals in Columbus all on Broadway Street, so it’s super easy to take some fun photos without dragging your friends around.

Sunday: brunch at The Hound

The Hound is an Auburn staple & I’ve never been… until this weekend. My friends Hannah, Dylan & I are grabbing brunch on Sundays to try out all of Auburn’s spots for our senior year! At The Hound, I got the avocado toast because I’m basic and it. was. amazing. Garlicky sourdough toast, fresh pico, plenty of avocado & a dreamy chipotle aioli. Yes. Please. I find that sometimes avocado toast isn’t filling enough for what you’re paying, but this wasn’t the case here! I definitely recommend grabbing this if you’re looking for a vegetarian option for brunch.

Monday: no class & a self-timer photoshoot

On Monday, we didn’t have class, so I grabbed coffee with Dylan & afterward, I took advantage of the day off to snap some quick self-timer photos. I’ve already shared this look on Instagram, and I’m planning to write a blog post about it! I’m used to taking self-timer photos on my tripod, but usually, I’m not in busy areas… taking photos in downtown Auburn was a struggle for my extroverted self.

Wednesday: early morning bao + dumplings & my first ever workout class

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know I am obsessed with a local spot called The Irritable Bao. They make the most incredible bao & change their menu daily, & I go at least once a week. On Wednesday, I grabbed bao with Bryanna at 7:30AM then headed to class. It was an early morning wakeup call, but the special chicken tikka masala bao made it so worth it!

On Wednesday night, I also went to my first ever workout class! At the beginning of this year, I felt incredibly motivated to work out consistently & I’m still feeling that same motivation. I bought a class pass membership at the Rec (for the first time) & on Wednesday I went with Greer to a 7PM Butts & Guts class. I am still sore… days later.

Friday: morning workout class & dumplings… again

What can I say… I’m a creature of habit. After attending the 7 AM Butts & Guts class, Dylan & I picked up bacon, egg & cheese dumplings from The Irritable Bao. Such a fun way to start a Friday morning.

Here’s to finding happy little moments in busy weekends!
