Winter Bucket List 2018

Can you believe December is here?! Usually I feel like the years are SO short, but this year has felt incredibly long. Like seven years in one year long. My winter break will be starting early because my only in-class exam is next Tuesday, so I’m getting getting ready now! I find that every time a break comes around, I have huge hopes for everything I’ll get done over the break… then I spend a few too many days lazing around watching Netflix. Today I’m sharing my winter bucket list because I think writing these goals down means I’ll be more likely to accomplish them. I crossed off four out of five things on my fall bucket list, so this time I’m hoping to cross everything off. The next time you have a free moment – after finals are over, of course – write your winter bucket list down!

1. Finish putting together Christmas gifts.

I shared my Christmas gift guide on the blog, but I’m not done shopping for gifts yet! This week I’m going to a dirty Santa with my friends, so I pulled together a few of the items from my gift guide and put them all together. I filled cute little mugs from the dollar section with goodies like nail polish and lotion – super easy gift that’s still inexpensive. I’m also still looking for something more for my mom. I’ve already shared I’m giving her a JORD watch, but I also want to add something else! Any ideas?!

2. Drive around and look at Christmas decorations.

My family has a tradition of driving around our neighborhood listening to Christmas music to look at all of the decorations. This always feels so magical! It’s such a fun tradition, and it always ends with us going home and watching plenty of Christmas movies! My favorites are Elf and A Christmas Story, and I’ve been watching the Netflix Christmas movies too. I thought The Princess Switch was SO cute.

3. Make coffee plans with friends I rarely see.

I think falling into a friendship rut is SO common – we have a few people that we usually see, and we don’t break out of that comfort zone! There are a ton of people I want to make plans with, though, whether that be to strengthen a friendship or begin a friendship. This Christmas season I’m going to be intentional about reaching out to people I don’t usually spend time with and asking if they want to grab coffee. This is such a simple, low-commitment way to branch out and hopefully lead to growing in your friendships!

4. Explore downtown Birmingham.

Downtown Birmingham is so fun – Red Cat is one of my favorite coffee shops, and every time I go I like to explore! During this break, I want to make a day out of exploring downtown and walking into random shops or around Railroad Park. I haven’t been during Christmas time, so I want to grab a coffee and instead of staying inside, walk around! Grabbing a cup of coffee and walking around was also on my bucket list for fall… are we sensing a trend?!

5. Do a closet clean-out.

This isn’t necessarily a bucket list item, but it’s something I like to do every few months! Especially with Christmas approaching, our closets get full. I have a general rule that for every piece of clothing I add to my closet, I remove one piece. A few weeks ago, I went to a clothing swap with a couple of girls in Auburn’s Catholic student organization, and I thought it was such a good idea! You bring whatever clothing you haven’t worn in a while or doesn’t fit you anymore, throw it on a table, and shop around everyone else’s clothes.

What’s on your winter bucket list?! I’m always looking for fun new things to do!

xoxo, Cecilia
