Spreading Kindness With Cards: 6 People to Send Cards To

If you know me at all, you know I love good cards – so much that I’ve written about them on the blog before! When Paperless Post reached out to me to try them out and share my experience on the blog, I was sold. Paperless Post features stationery from some of our favorite designers – kate spade, Rifle Paper Co., and more – in a completely online format. You have complete control in the “design” process and can choose your message, typefaces, envelopes, and more. Then, you send off your card through email. Your recipient has the chance to write you a message back as soon as they receive it!

It’s no secret that receiving mail can brighten someone’s day. But – I find that all of the “details” of sending physical cards turns it into something I do very infrequently. In reality, I want to give people cards all of the time! When I tried out the service and looked at their website, I wrote out a list of people I wanted to send a card to. I’ll share that list in case you’re looking for a reason to send someone a card!

People to send cards to:

  • A newlywed: Congratulate your friend & wish her a lifetime of happiness! One of my best friends just got married, so I loved that I was able to send her a card while she was still on her honeymoon.
  • Friends who go to college in a different state: Let them know you’re thinking of them. Wish them luck in the upcoming school year! It’s easy to lose touch with our high school friends, but this is a kind way to reach out!
  • A friend who’s interning: Encourage her as she finishes up her internship. A few of my best friends are interning full-time, so I wanted to let them know how proud of them I am.
  • A blogger who inspires you: Reach out to this blogger via card and let her know why her content inspires you! I did this to a few bloggers and I love the idea of that verbal affirmation.
  • Family friends… or the family of your friends: After going on a super fun trip with my best friend, I knew I wanted to send her family a thank you card!
  • A new graduate: Graduating, moving to a new city, starting a first full-time job. All are overwhelming, exciting, and emotional! Let a new graduate know that you’re thinking of them/praying for them in this transitional phase.

The ultimate reason to send a card:

Why do I love cards so much? It’s more than beautiful decorations or kind messages. I love the idea that when you send a card, you can reach someone in a moment that they need it most. You might choose to send your card spur-of-moment to a blogger whose blog you love at the exact minute she’s questioning why she continues blogging. Or, you could reach out to a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. You never know what they’re going through or how much they need a card. We might be the ones pressing send, but I firmly believe that God is the one putting it on our hearts at the moment He knows someone else needs it.

I hope that this post inspires you to sit down and write a card – whether it’s physical or not!

xoxo, Cecilia
