Styling a Jumpsuit 3 Ways | Threepeat

collage of three different ways to style a red jumpsuit

There are a few things in life that never fail to bring me joy. A good vanilla latte. Reruns of an old favorite like Friends or The Vampire Diaries with a candle burning. Styling something in a few ways to get the most bang for my buck. Enter: this red jumpsuit from Express.

When I was in high school and balling on a student-with-a-summer-job-and-that’s-it-budget, I asked myself this question every time I wanted to buy something new: What are THREE outfits I could make with this piece? Even now, I like to challenge myself to make three different looks out of clothing – for my blog and for my wallet. When you realize that you can wear one piece in a ton of ways, you’ll save money in the long run (aka taco budget if you’re thinking like me), plus you aren’t contributing to the crazy amount of clothing that’s already mass-produced and tossed. Next time you’re about to make a purchase, big or small, I encourage you to take on this lil challenge too!

This jumpsuit is what jumpsuit dreams are made of. Super stretchy (I went with a size 0 instead of my usual 2 in Express and it fits perfectly!) and flattering, plus right now it’s a STEAL. I picked mine up for around $15, and I can’t wait to wear it for NYE! In the summer I’ll be able to wear it as it is without straps, but for now, it’s all about the layers. Here are three ideas for styling a jumpsuit when it’s chilly outside!

Look 1: Let’s Get Cozy

I’m convinced that you can make any outfit better by throwing a cozy sweater over it! This chenille off the shoulder sweater is such a go-to for me with jeans, but by pairing it with a jumpsuit, it looks more dressed up and fun – perfect for the holiday season. Bonus: it makes the jumpsuit feel like power pants and I am totally okay with that.

Look 2: CEO Vibes

Since I grabbed this blazer, I’ve been lowkey trying to wear it as often as possible. It’s the coziest thing ever since it’s a cardigan material, but when I wear it, I feel like I could take on the world. This would be the perfect day-to-night look if you wanted to make your life 100% easier.

Look #3: To Jumpsuit or To Pant

If you want to really get the most for your money with clothing, start thinking outside the box! Instead of seeing a jumpsuit as just a jumpsuit, you can look at it as a unique pair of pants. For this, I added a neutral crop top and my favorite jacket. This look is my ideal combination of edgy and fun.

All of these looks feature some pieces from Express, because I’ve been working with them for the past few months and am genuinely in love. Make sure to check out my Black Friday favorites post with a few other pieces I’ve been loving. If you’ve been wanting to shop Express, everything is on major sale for the holiday season!

I’m definitely going to be wearing this jumpsuit for NYE in Birmingham – with my leather jacket and of course a 2020 headband! Then, I’ll be starting the new year off perfectly with a fun trip with some of my best friends from high school. I always think that my winter break will be so long, but this year it will fly by! Between trips and job applications, I’m going to be drinking a ton of coffee – no surprise. BUT I’m excited to spend more time focusing on this space.

Whenever someone asks me what my blog is all about, I tell them this: I believe that we can bring a little bit of joy to our lives in every decision we make, whether that be through the act of writing a card or choosing to wear clothing we feel confident in. It might seem silly, but when we feel confident in ourselves, we can radiate so much joy! In 2020, I want to continue nurturing that idea – over on my Instagram where I hope you find a little happiness and especially on here!
